Woodside Plaza Sees Newly Planted Trees

On October 17, CityTrees board members and volunteers came together for a fall planting in Woodside Plaza. The day was full of hard work, community spirit (some spooky spirit decorations) and plenty of determination. The results were something to celebrate: 19 new trees found a home in the neighborhood.

These newest additions to the neighborhood included a mix of Red Oak, Chisos Oak and Crape Myrtle trees, bringing both beauty and long-term environmental benefits to the community.
What made this planting especially meaningful was the strong support from local residents. The effort began with neighbors reaching out to request trees, but it didn’t stop there. Residents also helped organize within the neighborhood, spread the word, and encouraged others to get involved. That kind of grassroots enthusiasm is what helps make events like this so successful. A Little Extra Elbow Grease
The day also came with an extra challenge. We had three 24 inch, box trees that needed their holes hand dug. These box trees are significantly bigger than the typical 15 gallon trees we tend to work with. It can’t be understated how massive an undertaking this was and the serious effort put forth from everyone involved. Many thanks and kudos to the Woodside High School Environmental Club for rolling up their sleeves and getting dirty!

Thank you!
We’re incredibly grateful to both the volunteers and PWS for taking on such physically demanding work with such positivity and commitment. Equally as inspiring was the encouragement from the surrounding community throughout the day. Supportive words, well wishes, and neighborhood excitement helped make the event not just productive, but genuinely fulfilling.

Thank you to every participant and resident who helped make the day a success. Because of your energy and teamwork, Woodside Plaza is a little greener today—and will be for years to come.
