CityTrees Board Members Tend to Redwood City’s Street Trees

On the morning of Saturday, January 11, seven CityTrees board members gathered in Redwood City to care for the community’s urban forest. The crew focused on trees planted by the organization in recent years, as well as other street trees, ensuring they are healthy and thriving for years to come.

The group inspected over 50 trees along Cleveland, Davis, Ebener, and Clinton Streets, located off Roosevelt Avenue. Their efforts included removing stakes, pruning branches to clear pathways for pedestrians and vehicles, and addressing structural issues like crossing branches to promote healthy growth. A few trees were also restaked for added support, while three dead trees were removed altogether.

Beyond the physical work, the morning was a chance to connect with local residents, sharing knowledge about tree care and the importance of a healthy urban canopy. It also served as a hands-on training opportunity for Kathryn, a new board member, who learned the art of pruning alongside experienced volunteers.

The event was a success, furthering CityTrees’ mission to nurture and expand Redwood City’s green spaces.
