CityTrees and EA Team Up for a Green Day at Mezes Park

On Friday, October 11th, CityTrees partnered with Electronic Arts (EA) employees for an inspiring tree-planting event in Redwood City. The sunny morning set the perfect stage as over a dozen EA team members joined six CityTrees board members at Mezes Park on the corner of Warren and Standish. Their goal? Planting ten beautiful trees to green the streets and bring new life to the neighborhood.

The tree planting wasn’t just about enhancing aesthetics; it was part of a commitment to sustainability and community resilience. The team planted a variety of 15-gallon trees, including Trident Maples, Island Oaks, Japanese Blueberries, and a Valley Oak. Each tree was carefully chosen for its ability to thrive in the Redwood City climate, bringing shade, habitat, and beauty to the area for decades to come.

The trees were spread across several key locations near Mezes Park and in Centennial Park, including spots on Standish Street and Warren Street. Volunteers enjoyed a sense of camaraderie and accomplishment as they dug, planted, and staked the trees, finishing up by 12:00 PM.

This event was led by CityTrees board member Pat Sehl and was part of their ongoing mission to build a greener, more sustainable Redwood City. With every tree planted, CityTrees and EA continue to make a positive impact, creating spaces that future generations can enjoy.
