CityTrees and Simms Metal Partner for a Greener Redwood City
On Saturday, October 19, 2024, CityTrees teamed up with Simms Metal for an enthusiastic tree-planting event in Redwood City. Volunteers gathered early in the morning, ready to roll up their sleeves and put in the work to bring new greenery to D and E Streets. In true community spirit, the team even took on the challenge of hand-digging several of the holes—showing their dedication to the cause.
The selection of trees planted included a range of species chosen for their resilience and beauty. Two Swamp Mallets (Eucalyptus Spathulata) were added to D Street, known for their elegant shape and unique bark. Over on E Street, volunteers planted Compton Oak, Chitalpa “Pink Dawn,” and Muskogee Crepe Myrtle, adding vibrant foliage and flowers to the neighborhood.
Simms Metal’s sponsorship made this event possible, and CityTrees is grateful for their support in creating a greener, healthier Redwood City. Thanks to their generosity and the hard work of dedicated volunteers, these trees will provide shade, improve air quality, and enhance the area’s natural beauty for years to come.
